Support Samar Schools is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children living in the Samar province of the Philippines. The province covers the western section of Samar Island and several islands in the Samar Sea. Designated as one of the poorest provinces in Samar, many families simply can't afford to provide basic needs. It is estimated that more than half of the 4.1 million people living in the provinces of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Samar, Eastern Samar, Northern Samar and Biliran are poor. Children are some of the greatest victims.

Support Samar Schools was established in 2006 as an initiative to bring Internet connectivity to schools in remote areas of this Samar province. With generous donations of used laptop computers and monetary support, we are able to enhance education by providing access to the World Wide Web.

Despite our initial success, Support Samar Schools soon learned that children in this impoverished region of Samar have limited food and access to clean water, especially during the "dry season" before the crops are ready for harvest. In 2011, Support Samar Schools expanded its mission to provide clean drinking water and daily rations of rice for children attending the schools supported by our charity. Through your generous donations, we provide these basic necessities of life and computers to hundreds of children who would otherwise go without food and education.

To help the children of Samar, donate now. Monetary gifts and donations of new or used laptop computers are tax deductible and will go a long way in enhancing education and fostering new ways of thinking in Samar.

No parents wish to ever see their children hungry; unfortunately, this remains a daily reality for many Filipino families.
